As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage goes beyond relaxation and is exceptionally beneficial to increase the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Deep tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is used to treat a variety of physical ailments and also can help break up, and eventually erase scar tissue in the body, associated with ongoing pain and stiffness.

Thai massage uses no oils or lotions. The recipient remains clothed during the treatment. There is constant body contact between the giver and receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. Regular Thai massage stretches the muscles back to their normal resting length, which deceives the brain into ‘thinking’ that all is well and before long tension disappears and joint mobility is restored.
The massage generally follows designated lines (“sen”) in the body and a full session last 1.5 hrs.

This technique aims to stimulate the nerve endings in the feet and sends signals along the nerve pathways to the central nervous system. This is where they are processed and filtered to the corresponding part of the body or organ being worked on. Reflexology restores the free flow of ‘energy circulation’ within and around the body. This realigns mind, body and spirit to a state of wellbeing and harmony.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, however if “life force energy”is high than we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Aqua Massage or Watsu
Watsu is a gentle therapy performed in warm water. It combines elements of massage, joint mobilisation, shiatsu, muscle stretching and dance.
The receiver is continuously supported while floating, craddled, rocked and stretched. The deeply relaxing effects of warm water and nurturing support, combine with Watsu’s movements, stretches, massage and point work, help create this amazing healing bodywork that is beyond the physical level.
